Los Cristianos is located just 15km west of the airport and is the second largest tourist destination on Tenerife and caters for all age groups.
A pedestrian promenade runs the entire length of Los Cristianos, ideal for those disabled using wheel-chairs or scooters, and there are many shops, restaurants and bars along the sea front and in the quieter back streets, and for those who like to sing there are a number of karaoke bars. If you are looking for club nightlife then Playa de Las Americas is just a 5 minute taxi ride away.
The seafront at Los Cristianos has ample man-made beaches with clean waters and covered with sand imported from the Sahara.
Los Cristianos harbour is home to many international yachts and pleasure boats, and ferries and hydrofoils depart from here on trips to the island of La Gomera. There is also the opportunity of a boat trip to see the many dolphin and whale colonies that live in these waters.
There is a good range of accommodation in Los Cristianos, ranging from 5 star hotels to holiday apartments and everything in between.
There are trips to Mount Teide National Park from all over the island and the incredible range of plants and animal life, excellent hiking trails and amazing views make it worthwhile. Coaches take you close to the summit often travelling through snow to get there and a cable car will take you the rest of the way to the summit, but this is not for the faint-hearted.
Mount Teide has been the location for numerous Hollywood films including the spaghetti westerns of the 1970's and the original "Planet of the Apes".
