Tenerife Holiday, Tenerife Breaks.

Tenerife is the largest and most populated of the seven Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of North Africa, and takes approximately 4 hours from the UK by aeroplane. Tenerife is on the GMT zone so there are no time differences and its currency is the Euro. Tenerife was created volcanically, and its formation started to develop in the ocean bottom 20-50 million years ago. However there have not been any eruptions since 1909 when the Chinyero volcano erupted.

Tenerife Holiday - Travel & Climate

Cheap Hotels Tenerife, Tenerife Breaks.

Tenerife is known internationally as the "Island of Eternal Spring" . Being on a latitude of the Sahara Desert, Tenerife enjoys a warm climate all year round with an average of 20° - 22°C in the winter and 26° - 28°C in the summer and sunshine all year round thus making the perfect getaway for some winter sun. Generally speaking the weather tends to be sunny for longer periods in the south than in the north, which has greater cloud cover, and a little warmer.

Tenerife offers a diverse range of landscapes; in the north is subtropical vegetation, forests, rugged coastlines and black beaches, whilst in the south there is less greenery and more rocky landscapes and white beaches. In central Tenerife is the volcanic mountain Mount Teide which is the highest point in all of Spain.

Tenerife has a good variety of resorts to suit all types of holidaymakers, and we highlight just two of the most popular ones :- Puerto de la Cruz, the Tenerife capital in the north, but first Los Cristianos, a sunnier beach style resort, more relaxed and quieter than its well known neighbour Playa de las Americas.

Tenerife Holiday - Los Cristianos Breaks

Los Cristianos Breaks, Los Cristianos Holiday.

Los Cristianos is located just 15km west of the airport and is the second largest tourist destination on Tenerife and caters for all age groups.
A pedestrian promenade runs the entire length of Los Cristianos, ideal for those disabled using wheel-chairs or scooters, and there are many shops, restaurants and bars along the sea front and in the quieter back streets, and for those who like to sing there are a number of karaoke bars. If you are looking for club nightlife then Playa de Las Americas is just a 5 minute taxi ride away.

The seafront at Los Cristianos has ample man-made beaches with clean waters and covered with sand imported from the Sahara.
Los Cristianos harbour is home to many international yachts and pleasure boats, and ferries and hydrofoils depart from here on trips to the island of La Gomera. There is also the opportunity of a boat trip to see the many dolphin and whale colonies that live in these waters.

There is a good range of accommodation in Los Cristianos, ranging from 5 star hotels to holiday apartments and everything in between.

There are trips to Mount Teide National Park from all over the island and the incredible range of plants and animal life, excellent hiking trails and amazing views make it worthwhile. Coaches take you close to the summit often travelling through snow to get there and a cable car will take you the rest of the way to the summit, but this is not for the faint-hearted.
Mount Teide has been the location for numerous Hollywood films including the spaghetti westerns of the 1970's and the original "Planet of the Apes".
