Munich Weather
Those who enjoy dynamic weather conditions will find a lot to love in Munich's alpine climate where the warm fohne from the nearby Alps often sweeps in to bring impressive storms, both in winter and summer.
That means that heavy rains are a big part of this continental climate, as are majestic snowstorms.
While winters can be quite cold, the summer season is generally characterized by mild temperatures.

Munich - General Information
Munich is Germany's 3rd largest city and it sits along the Isar River, just to the north of the scenic mountain range known as the Bavarian Alps.
There are nearly 5 million people in this city's scope and it takes its name from an Old Germanic phrase meaning "near the monk's place", but today its city slogan is 'Munich Likes You' due to its reputation as one of the friendliest cities in the country. This is a very livable city according to many international polls and it is home to Germany's publishing and financial industries.

Munich Guide
There is a great deal of impressive old European architecture to be witnessed in the capital of Bavaria and here you can still see the last remains of the 3 gates which were part of the medieval era fortress which surrounded this city back in the 1100's when it was first founded.

Not only can visitors witness timeless cathedrals from bygone eras, they can also visit the popular Viktualienmarkt market for their shopping needs as this is the most popular of all commercial destinations in Munich.
From medieval stone work to rococco, Renaissance and even Neo-Gothic design, the city features an impressive collection of some of the European Continent's most famous design styles and serves up high end shopping in a number of boutiques offering jewelry, designer fashions and other luxury goods.
The Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten serves as the city's most impressive 5 star hotel and regularly welcomes guests from around the globe.

However, it is not all just history here. You can see the impressive and rather futuristic looking headquarters of the automobile maker BMW, but what you will not see is skyscrapers.
This is because the people of Munich have opted to keep their skyline pure so that they will always have a breathtaking view of the nearby Alps.

There are a large number of parks to explore for those who love nature and it is certainly easy to feel close to the Earth here in Munich where natural beauty is all around any visitor who arrives in this friendly city.
There are even places to swim during the summer and a city zoo to visit that is perfect for taking the family along to see.

Be sure to sample the famed local pretzels if you visit Munich and enjoy a traditional strudel, as well.
Beer gardens are plentiful here for those who enjoy a refreshing beverage and many local breweries make up beers you won't find anywhere else in the world.

If you arrive during the Christmas season, the Christkindlmarkt will amaze you with the vast selection of traditional German Christmas time goods.
