Milan Weather
Milan has a sub-Mediterranean climate where it is hot and humid in the summer and cold and damp in the winter. In July temperatures can reach as high as 39 degrees and as low as minus 1.9 degrees in the winter.

Milan is one of the most important tourist destinations in Europe and is served by two international airports, the Malpanese International Airport, which is the second largest airport in Italy and the Linate International Airport which is close to the city limits. The city has a bus system, a subway rail system and a suburban railway service.

The city itself has just over a million and a quarter people but the surrounding areas take that number to over four million, the largest in Italy and fifth largest in the European Union.
Nowadays Milan is a cosmopolitan city and home to nationalities from all over the world it is the tenth most important centre for finance In the European Union.

Milan History
The city was founded by the Celts and came under Roman rule in the early years of the third century. During the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries (sometimes referred to as the romantic period) Milan was a major cultural centre, attracting artists and the like from all over Europe. In the last two years of the Second World War, Milan was the centre of the Italian resistance movement against the Germans.

There is lots to see in Milan, whether you are interested in the architecture, the churches or the museums and art galleries.
The city has a number of major tourist attractions, including the Piazza, the Convent of Sta Maria delle Grazie which houses Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting of the Last Supper, the San Siro Stadium and the Milan Cathedral, to name but a few.
Some of the city’s architectural styles predate the middle Ages, side by side with Renaissance buildings.
The city houses a number of parks and gardens that are well worth a family visit, the Giardini Pubblici is one of Milan’s oldest public parks, completed in 1790 and landscaped in Neo-Classical style, it is also home to the Natural History Museum of Milan.
Milan is a centre for modern and contemporary art with some notable works held in the Brera Academy.

Milan is renowned for football, the city’s most popular sport as well as for its fashion and shopping and nightlife.
Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world so if you are looking for designer labels you won’t be disappointed.
The night life in Milan is varied and lively and is renowned for this throughout Europe. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, jazz venues and modern nightclubs around the centre of the city.
The city also has a number of social centres that are designed to provide music and entertainment to young people at an affordable price. As with many cities, the night life is at its best on Saturday evenings.
