One thing that you shouldn’t miss on a city break to London is the changing of the Guard outside the palace. You might also want to see round the houses of parliament and Winston Churchill’s war rooms, which have recently been opened to the public. As well as being steeped in history, London is a vibrant city with a thriving night life. There are plenty of theatres around London, especially in the Drury Lane and Leicester Square area.
It is worth taking a bus or taxi ride to go and see Hyde Park and St. James’ Park. Hyde Park is especially beautiful in the summer and it is so big that you can be forgiven for thinking you are in the country rather than central London.
London Accommodation
There are plenty of hotels and bed and breakfast establishments in London, but if you are on a budget then you would do better to stay south of the river as central London hotels can be very expensive. If you take the train from Victoria to Streatham you should find some more affordable places to stay, or you can try north London, which also has cheaper hotels than the centre. Back to top
