Krakow Weather
You should visit Krakow in the summer as it can be 12 or more degrees below freezing and covered in ice and snow in the winter months.

Krakow Travel
Getting around Krakow is not too difficult as there is a dense network of bus and streetcar lines as well as some private minibus operators. In addition to public transport there are plenty of taxis around the city centre and these are quite cheap to ride in the cultural area of the city is mostly pedestrianised but there are horse buggies and rickshaws if you have difficulty getting about.

Krakow History
The city itself can be traced back to the seventh century and is one of Poland’s leaders in academic, artistic and cultural life; it is one of Poland’s important economic centres.
From the eleventh to the early sixteenth century, Krakow was actually the capital city of Poland and from 1846 to 1918 capital of the Grand Duchy of Krakow. The city is now known as the capital of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. New universities and cultural venues were established along with the emergence of the Second Polish Republic.

Poland is part of Eastern Europe and Krakow is in the south of the country in a valley at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. In 2000 Krakow was named as the official European capital of culture and if you visit the city you certainly won’t be disappointed in what you see.

Krakow Attractions

Krakow offers a whole range of eating establishments from traditional Polish fare, to Chinese, Italian and modern gourmet restaurants, there are also some nice little cafes and snack bars in and around the city.
Altogether Krakow has 28 museums and public art galleries as well as several famous theatres so you won’t be stuck for things to see and do. Krakow is also home to dozens of parks and gardens and even a couple of forests if you want to explore further than the city centre.

If you visit Krakow’s historic centre then you should see St. Mary’s Basilica, the Wawei Castle and the National Art Museum. Poland has some wonderful churches and some of them are dedicated to the black virgin and well worth seeing.
Krakow Accommodation
Most of the hotels in Krakow are situated around the old town area where there is a wide range of accommodation. If you are on a tight budget then Planty, which is a few minutes drive from Krakow’s centre is the place to look for reasonably priced, comfortable accommodation. The southern side of Krakow also has a wide range of accommodation from top class hotels to budget accommodation.
Accommodation in Krakow is quite cheap compared to somewhere like London, unless you stay in one of the more famous hotels. Back to top
