One of the best aspects about Edinburgh is that you are able to walk around and see a lot without spending a penny. Make sure you pop on your comfortable shoes to trail the city sights; it’s a great way to spot great shops, restaurants and activities so for those that have the energy take advantage of the cheap and easy way to see the city.
There are of course taxis to see the city; a helpful hint is to avoid black cabs as they often charge a little more therefore ask your hotel to book you a private cab company to avoid those extra charges!
Edinburgh Beaches
In summer Edinburgh has some great beaches on offer and you do not have to travel far. Portobello is very close to Leith, It is popular with tourists and residents in the city who want to catch some sun, have a swim in the sea or have a nice stroll with the ice cream.

Edinburgh Castle. Many people visiting Edinburgh are very excited about visiting the beautiful castle which is 5,000 years old, offering beautiful views, a lot of history and is a great sightseeing opportunity.
Make sure you visit St Margaret's Chapel, the Great Hall and Crown Square.

Royal Mile. Upon leaving the Castle there is plenty more to see therefore get those walking shoes on and take a trip down the Royal Mile where there are some great local shops with handmade traditional sweets such as tablet on offer. There are also some delicious cafés and restaurants available however do not forget to taste a tipple of Whiskey.

There are some great day trips around Edinburgh that you and your family will love such as Deep Sea world, Edinburgh Zoo and for those that want to venture further a trip to Glasgow which is a busy city filled with more shops, restaurants and sightseeing opportunities.

Shopping in Edinburgh. For those that love a bit of shopping then you must take a walk down Princes Street and George Street, both feature some great stores such as House of Fraser, Jenner's and Harvey Nichols. There are also some great bars such as Tiger Lilly, Le Monde and The Living room for a tasty cocktail!
