Dublin Castle Proudly standing in Christ Church which is the oldest area in the city, the castle was originally built to serve as a defensive structure in the early 13th century. Today, it is still one of the biggest attractions among tourists and is often used as a venue for many concerts. It is also where the Chester Beatty Library can be found.
Kilmainham Gaol If you are looking to know more about the history of the city, this would be the best place to start. Located in Inchicore, Kilmainham Gaol was a prison where many Republican and Nationalist leaders and famous Irish personalities were imprisoned and executed including James Connolly. Dublin Zoo Located in Phoenix Park in the western area of the city, the Dublin Zoo is the largest zoo in Ireland. It is home to more than 235 various animal and bird species. The zoo offers themed areas which features the different groups of animals, making it a great attraction for both adults and children.
National Museum of Ireland Another attraction located in the city center, the museum features cultural, artistic and historical collections housed in three buildings.
Some of the other tourist attractions in Dublin that you might want to visit would be the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Malahide Castle and the Christ Church Cathedral.
Shopping If you are looking to shop, then the best place to go to would be Grafton Street, which is between Trinity College and St. Stephen's Green. Along Grafton Street, you would be able to find Brown Thomas, which is the most famous and most expensive department store in Dublin, as well as many other shops that sell clothes, jewelry and tourist-related items. Some other areas to go to for shopping would be Dawson Street, Nassau Street, the Powerscourt Center and The Loft Market.
Food and Drink The city has numerous good restaurants, most of which are offering traditional Irish dishes such as Irish Stew, Champ, Bacon and Cabbage, Colcannon and Coddle. However, there also a lot of restaurants that serve a variety of international fare, including Chinese, Asian and Indian dishes. Some well-recommended restaurants would be Aqua, Avoca, Bar Italia, Browne's, Chapter One, Dax and Dillinger's.
Dublin is also known for having lively and colorful pubs throughout the city. some traditional Irish bars include The Brazen Head, The Barge, The Cobblestone and Mulligans.
